Northern Valley Schools
About Northern Valley Schools
Northern Valley is a small, rural school nestled in northeastern Norton County. Northern Valley is a combination of the former Almena Rural School and Long Island School. Over the past 100 years, the population of rural Kansas has continually decreased. There is evidence of this along every paved and gravel road. The distance between houses has increased, but Northern Valley Schools is still at the center of our communities. With your support, Northern Valley will continue to produce successful students both in and out of the classroom.
MatchDay Fundraising Project
Name of Project/Initiative: High Jump/Pole Vault Mats
Fundraising Goal: $13,000
Project Description
USD 212 is looking to purchase new high jump and pole vault pits. The current mats were purchased used in December 2017 and are in rough condition, as demonstrated in the pictures below! Colby Canvas made new protective covers in March of 2021, but the wind storms in December 2021 and March 2022 destroyed them to the point of being unusable.
How the project will benefit Norton County
Purchasing new high jump and pole vault mats would allow students to practice locally rather than traveling to Norton and waiting until their practice is complete to use their facilities. Purchasing new mats would allow athletes to practice more safely and efficiently, ensuring success for students.
